The Tanegashima Space Center is the main rocket launch site for JAXA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, located in the town of Minamitane in the southeastern corner of the island of Tanegashima, the island where Robotics;Notes and Robotics;Notes DaSH are set.
Kenichiro Senomiya (the father of Akiho Senomiya and Misaki Senomiya) is in charge of the Tanegashima Space Center, and Nae Tennouji works there as an engineer and scout. Both of them are JAXA employees.
JAXA has a Robotics Support Project to help educate young people about robotics, and as part of this, they provide assistance to the Robot Research Club. They have meetings about this at the Tanegashima Space Center. The Tanegashima Space Center is also a very important location in the climax of Robotics;Notes.
Both JAXA and the Tanegashima Space Center exist in the real world, too, and JAXA has an English-language PDF file all about the Tanegashima Space Center at http://global.jaxa.jp/countdown/f11/presskit/tnsc_guide_e.pdf as well as a website for the Tanegashima Space Center at https://global.jaxa.jp/about/centers/tnsc/.
