Sumio Nagafukada (長深田 澄夫, Nagafukada Sumio) is the president of the Space Candy company (Space Candy Co., Ltd.) and the uncle of Mitsuhiko Nagafukada. The hearty type who does not think too deeply, he is believed to have amazing business skills, but it is mostly just from following his gut feelings. The members of the Robotics Research Club repeatedly try to recruit him as a financial sponsor for their club, but he keeps refusing them, because he wants to see something that has more "Impact!" Eventually he is convinced to sponsor the club after seeing Junna Daitoku doing karate moves, something he feels has a lot of "Impact!"
Etymology[]
- The name Sumio means "clear, pure" (澄) (sumi) and "man, husband" (夫) (o).
- Sumio's surname Nagafukada means "long, chief, boss" (長) (naga), "deep" (深) (fuka) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).

- He has a third-degree black belt in Judo.
- This could be a reason for why he felt that Junna had a lot of "impact".
