Robotics;Notes DaSH (ロボティクス・ノーツ ダッシュ, Robotikusu Nōtsu Dasshu?) is a side entry in the Science Adventure Series and the direct sequel to Robotics;Notes. It was originally released for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch on January 31, 2019.
Described as an "Augmented Science Adventure," Robotics;Notes DaSH features robotics and augmented reality as its main themes. Like Robotics;Notes, the gameplay in Robotics;Notes DaSH revolves around the use of a mobile phone/tablet hybrid known as the "PhoneDroid"[1] (also known as the "PokeCom").
Notably, Robotics;Notes DaSH features Itaru Hashida as one of its main characters, alongside Nae Tennouji as a returning supporting character.
Official English localizations for Robotics;Notes Elite and Robotics;Notes DaSH have been developed, and were published by Spike Chunsoft worldwide on October 13, 2020, along with both English and Japanese versions of the games for PC via Steam.
Synopsis[]
In 2020, the rapid growth and spread of the online information infrastructure is bringing the entire world closer together. The rise of robot technology has resulted in not just industrial, but consumer use of robots becoming a common sight. The recent robot rebellion incident in February was thwarted by high school students from Tanegashima. Still, the global crisis was enough to reveal how fragile the high speed information society truly is.
Six months have passed and Tanegashima is booming with commotion in preparation for its summer festival. Kaito Yashio has graduated high school, and is currently studying to become an astronaut. On a return trip home, he encounters Itaru Hashida, a friend of Nae Tennouji who works at JAXA. Kaito reunites with the alumni members of the Robot Club: his childhood friend Akiho Senomiya and Junna Daitoku, as well as Frau Koujiro and Subaru Hidaka, both of whom are still members of the Robot Club. They also reunite with Airi, who they met during the incident in February.
The Robot Club spends their summer days with Nae Tennouji and Itaru Hashida when, suddenly, strange incidents begin occurring all over the island, harbingers of a tragedy about to hit the entire world...[1]
Development[]
The game’s opening theme, “Avant Story”, was written by Chiyomaru Shikura and performed by Zwei; the true ending theme, “Konna Boku Demo” (こんな僕でも, Even If I’m Like This), was performed by Kanako Itō, and the normal ending theme, “trust”, was performed by Yumi Matsuzawa. The game also features the songs “Tu Ru Tu Ru Dance”, which was written by Kento Nagatsuka and performed by various voice actors, and “aNubis”, which was written by Chiyomaru Shikura and performed by Konomi Suzuki.
The game was announced at the Chiyo-ST Live 2017 Genesis event in Tokyo in May 2017, and a trailer was shown at Tokyo Game Show 2017. The game was published by 5pb. in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on January 31, 2019, following two delays from early 2018 and November 22, 2018. An English localization was announced by Spike Chunsoft during Anime Expo 2019.
In Japan, the game was in addition to the standard release also made available in a bundle with Robotics;Notes Elite HD, an updated version of the original Robotics;Notes game. A single containing “Avant Story” and an audio drama monologue featuring Yoshino Nanjō as Akiho Senomiya was released on December 26, 2018, and the complete Robotics;Notes DaSH Original Soundtrack album on February 13, 2019.
Reception[]
According to Media Create and Famitsu's weekly sales charts, Robotics;Notes DaSH sold 3,943 (Media Create) or 4,360 (Famitsu) physical copies for the PlayStation 4 during its debut week in Japan, ranking 19th according to Media Create and 17th according to Famitsu; the Nintendo Switch version sold 2,834 physical copies, ranking 24th, according to Famitsu, but did not appear at all on Media Create's top 20 chart. According to Famitsu, both versions had a sell-through rate of about 60%. Neither Famitsu nor Media Create revealed sales numbers for the DaSH and Elite HD bundles for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, although Media Create listed both as ranking higher than the Nintendo Switch stand-alone version of DaSH.
Famitsu's writers enjoyed the game, saying that they liked the comedic writing, the characters' growth, and the focus on each robotics club member, as well as the depiction of Tanegashiman culture. The graphics and visuals were also well received, with praise given to the 3D characters' animations and the background artwork. They considered the game appealing to fans of Steins;Gate and of the Science Adventure series in general, due to things like Daru's heavy involvement in the story.
Opening Movie[]
Walkthrough[]
This is a spoiler-free full script walkthrough for Robotics;Notes DaSH, designed to allow readers to play through in the optimal route order while unlocking every scene, CG, music track, and tip along the way. (Twipo messages and GeoTags are not covered, you are expected to be checking for those routinely as you see fit.)
The Map Trigger[]
The Map Trigger is a route-defining trigger, unique to Robotics;Notes DaSH. At certain points in the story, you are to go around various Tanegashima locations. Using the Map Trigger, you can select on the map what locations to visit. At those locations, you will interact with various characters. A pre-determined location for each Map Trigger sequence will be the "correct" one and will progress the story.
As a general rule for how character-route branching works, you need to visit all locations with the character in them during the trigger sequences, and then also visit the locations that progress the story. Sometimes, those two overlap.
After that sequence, you will be asked to look around a specific location and locate a GeoTag, much like in the original Robotics;Notes. This guide does not count those as "Map Trigger" segments, since they're merely a minigame. You can complete this yourself, but if you can't spot the GeoTag, look over at the GeoTag Spotting Help segment.
Common Route[]
Choices within Common Route determine what character route you branch into after the common route concludes, so be careful. However, they only start to appear later on, so don't worry too much about them in the beginning and just focus on enjoying the Twipo conversations and finding GeoTags.
Character Routes[]
Recommended route order is Mesopause Converter→Plasmapause Resistor→Exopause Thyristor→Thermopause Emulator→Ionopause Thermistor→Magnetopause Attenuator→Heliopause Processor.
