Minami Furugoori (古郡 みなみ, Furugōri Minami) is the mother of Kona Furugoori (a.k.a. Frau Koujiro) and was the director of the anime Mobile Battler Gunvarrel.
13 members of the staff of the Gunvarrel anime were apparently killed, and Minami went missing. What happened to them turned out to be a Committee of 300 brainwashing plot orchestrated by Ko Kimijima, where they were all brainwashed by him, and Minami was the only one to manage to recover from the brainwashing. However, it is unknown what happened to her after that. She was last seen on the island of Tanegashima, where Robotics;Notes takes place, and as a suspect in a number of homicides, Minami probably wanted to lay low and avoid being found.
Out of devotion to her missing mother, Kona Furugoori, under the alias Frau Koujiro, developed the game Kill-Ballad to help keep Gunvarrel from being forgotten and fading away, using artwork from her mom's anime and her own programming skills. Kona also moved to Tanegashima to try to search for her mom. She used the alias Frau Koujiro for privacy reasons and to avoid being publicly connected to her mom, who was a controversial public figure suspected of murder, but who Kona knew had to be innocent.
Etymology[]
- The name Minami is written in hiragana (みなみ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (美波, 南 or 美海), it could possibly mean:
- 美波 - "beautiful" (美) (mi) and "wave, breaker" (波) (nami).
- 南 - "south".
- 美海 - "beautiful" (美) (mi) and "sea, ocean" (海) (nami).
- Minami's surname Furugoori means "old, antiquity, ancient time, used, secondhand" (古) (furu) and "county/country, district" (郡) (goori).
