Kenichiro Senomiya is the father of Akiho Senomiya and Misaki Senomiya. He is also a high-ranking JAXA official, serving as director of the Tanegashima Space Center, making him the boss of Nae Tennouji, who works as a JAXA engineer and scout.

As the director of Tanegashima Space Center, Kenichiro is in charge of many things, including the Robotics Support Project, whose goal is to educate young people about robotics to help them gain the knowledge necessary for careers in this booming field. The Robotics Support Project has the authority, funding, and personnel to help out the Robot Research Club at Chuo Tanegashima High, which is led by club president Akiho and was founded by former club president Misaki, both of whom are Kenichiro’s daughters.

However, it would be a conflict of interest for him to just approve the funding for a club run by his daughter without going through proper procedures, as JAXA is a Japanese government agency funded by taxpayers. In practice, this means that JAXA will not fund or provide its expertise or support to the Robot Research Club if they are doing unrealistic designs for a giant robot, such as the designs for GunBuild-1, which JAXA engineers do not believe would actually work in practice. It is because of this, as well as Subaru Hidaka’s criticism of the GunBuild-1 design, which eventually convinces Akiho to abandon GunBuild-1 and begin construction on the new GunBuild-2, a more practical giant robot built in cooperation with JAXA.

Eventually, GunBuild-2 is tragically destroyed, but due to rapid technological advances, it becomes feasible to turn GunBuild-1 into a working giant robot, so JAXA supports the Robot Research Club in that endeavor, upgrading it into Super GunBuild-1.
