Exoskeleton Development Co., Ltd. ("ExCo" for short) is a fictional company in the world of Robotics;Notes. During the series, they are most well known for their HUG power-assisted suits, which they invented and sell to the general public.
Exoskeleton Company is influenced, to some extent, by the Committee of 300. Kou Kimijima claims that the company is one of many being used by the Committee to develop robots during the robot boom as part of Project Mars.
History[]
Exoskeleton Company began as a small company, selling HUGs for medical care and rehabilitation purposes. In the late 2010s, however, the company began to focus their attention on the rapidly growing robot boom, and as a result, they quickly became a world famous, frequently-discussed company. In 2018, Exoskeleton Company was ranked the number one company that Japanese college students wanted to work for.
After their massive growth, the company began to produce HUGs for purposes outside of nursing and welfare. The "HUGP" line of HUGs, for example, was developed for and adopted by the the police departments of various countries. The company also had a top-secret military-use model in development, designed for adoption by the militaries of various countries.
In August 2020, it was reported that Exoskeleton Company would be scaling back the production of HUGs in the following year, likely due to the terrorism committed by one of the company's test pilots, Misaki Senomiya, using specialized HUG prototypes.
